I am in Florida for a wedding right now and will be going to New Orleans for Halloween. I'll try to update with some images while I am on the road.

Joe Photo Goes to School

Joe Photo spoke at photo class.
He came by last night for the wedding photography class that I am in this semester. Needless to say, the class did not expect an overly animated and extremely passionate metro sexual dude to be speaking. Usually the class asks a lot of questions, but they were pretty entertained and shocked to just listen to Joe explain all of his styles from getting clients to sign retainers, to how he handles the mother-in-laws, and his post wedding rituals with wine and quesadillas (which I was able to witness first hand last saturday).

We had a team effort in the studio for a class project. I just got my new wide angle lens, so I was appointed project assignment photographer.

Photographing Kids is Fun.

I shot a wedding about a few weeks ago. There were a lot of kids and I was able to shoot them having fun all day long. They warmed up to me after I started making fun of them. I don't think they expected a professional photographer to be able to "kid" around with them, but I do that all the time anyway. And then when they get real friendly, they ask to take the photos. Ordinary day and life of Joseph Colombo...








I gave the kids the camera play around with. They mostly shot me.

Dali comes to Los Angeles

There is a new Dali exhibit that opens up at LACMA next week. Dali is still a huge inspiration to the art world today. I am always blown away by his work.

The Inner Clockwork

The Inner Clockwork played last Friday. I have never been hassled so much in my life by the bouncers. I was cool about it. If I can teach anybody something, it is to 'be cool.' Anybody can be a jerk, but that won't get you anywhere. Besides, I thought of the bouncer in the movie 'Knocked Up,' and he hated his job. I guess they have never seen a fat lens before, and I didn't have a beer in my hand, they didn't know what to do with me. I kept telling them I was with the next band, the Inner Clockwork. They said that band isn't on the list for the night. I told the bouncer regardless if the band is on the list or not, the band I am here to photograph the band that is on stage RIGHT NOW. I walked inside and the rest is history.
