Southern California Autumn

I was laying on the grass the other day, and this is what I saw.

The fall of Zion

Sometimes I forget there is a season called "Autumn." The weather in Southern California might drop to a brisk 70 degrees in the fall, and my tree in my front yard is still green with all of the leaves.

When I arrived in Zion, I was blown away by all the yellows and reds.

Turned in this image for school

I printed this image last night before I turned in my CD, but the printers at school were out of a couple ink cartridges (what else is new). So it printed not like this...I am still going to hang it up and add it to my other funny looking prints of flowers and plants that were printed from school...

Night shots of Joshua Tree

It was dark. It was windy. It was cold. It was scary.
All I had was one flashlight and thirty seconds exposures to run around and shine some light on some rocks I couldn't really see.

With funerals, work, family, Easter, and blah blah blah last week...it took me a week to edit these images...
So I went for a photo-flower-picking-walk a week ago with Erica. It felt good to shoot again. After trying to use my left brain for 60 hours a week at work, anything creative relaxes my mind.

Erica sees something...

It's way in there...

...and I still don't know what it is...

Trying to pick the flowers gently

And at the end of the day, we have more flowers than we can carry...AND WE HAVE TO HIKE DOWN THE HILL!

Huntington Library

Went to The Huntington Library about a week ago with Erica to attend a horticulturist seminar. Afterwords, we only had time to walk just the desert garden. If you know Erica, we didn't get very far. She knows the names of almost all the specimens, and, well, there are a lot. So many plants, so little time.

Neptune really isn't packing much these days.
