Most photographers do not sharpen their images enough. They are almost afraid to sharpen.
You should do your extreme adjustments [to taste] down the stream of your work flow.
Sometimes when I open up an image, I just want to dive in and make my creative adjustments. But I need to follow the correct work flow.

Hue/Saturation
Other Adjustments [to taste]
