Thanksgiving

The observance of Thanksgiving Day--as a function--has become general of late years. The Thankfulness is not so general. This is natural. Two-thirds of the nation have always had hard luck and a hard time during the year, and this has a calming effect upon their enthusiasm.

-Mark Twain

The thought of Thanksgiving has got me down this year. When I read this quote by Mark Twain, it cheered me up a bit. It has been a tough year, and I just want to eat and skip the thankful part.
And I am serious about eating pie first.

Its OK to skip the "thankful" part this year Joey. I see the pain you and your family is going through. Keep taking one day at a time. Spend this holiday season eating-and with that large Italian family of yours. Perhaps next year the "thankfulness" will return. If it doesn't...well...you will cross that bridge when it comes.

I think of you Colombo's often and pray for you when I do. I don't know what that means to you right now but I will lift your family before the LORD during this hard holiday season.

Joey,
Please read the second to last paragraph of your 10-27-08 blog.
You have much to be thankful for and Nick would want that.
