Went to an Angel game last night

Even though the Angels won, I could still hear the air conditioner units over the fans.
I didn't know stadiums had air conditioners until last night.
No wave, no beach balls, no fights. I miss dodger stadium and all the wild raider fans.

Pizza Time!

The owner of top class pizza, Mr. I, has offered to host a fundraiser for Nick on MONDAY, APRIL 28TH, ALL DAY. THERE ARE 2 LOCATIONS, 3450 ORANGETHORPE AVENUE, ANAHEIM AND 101 W. IMPERIAL HWY, BREA. IF NICK IS UP TO IT, THEY WILL BE VISITING THE ANAHEIM LOCATION AT DINNER TIME. So don't eat lunch on Monday!

We used to go to top class after we would play baseball on friday afternoons. Mr. I is one cool dude. He always hooked us up with sweet deals and ranch dressing for the crust.

Food for thought

Someone tried to make me feel bad about eating a carrot for a snack. I looked at them and said, "yea...that bag of Oreo's you are eating looks good, too."

Next time you are in Amsterdam...

...Visit the Van Gogh Museum instead of the red light district. But if you want to steal a painting (it has happened before and the work has not been returned), chances are you will not make it out alive. But Holland laws says possesion is 9/10th of who has it, and after possesion of an item of over 20 years, it is yours to keep.

My brother was talking about Van Gogh the other day. He said Van Gogh committed suicide in a field that he just painted called, Wheat Field with Crows . So I looked Van Gogh up on wikipedia to bust that myth. He actually had an interesting short lived life.

For an artist who had so many classic works of art, he died at 37. And he started to paint when he was 27 years old. Before Van Gogh was a painter, he was a preacher. Interesting turn of events that ended up in a mental hospital. Everybody probably knows that Vinny cut off a part of his ear to show his girlfriend that he loved her (typical French romantic), but his not many people know about his suicide. His suicide attempt was made by a revolver to his chest. Van Gogh did not die instantly. In fact, he walked himself back to his room at his hospital and died two weeks later.
(I would have done it differently)

In spite of everything I shall rise again: I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing...

If you hear a voice within you say "you cannot paint," then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced....

I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process...

Nick Colombo, Superhero

A LOT has happened since the protest. I have been working a lot, and a lot of things happened all at once, so it was real hard for me to keep up with all the news. But the end results are good. Nick has successfully completed five cyber knife treatments and he is supposed to come home this weekend.

But here is how the whole event played out.
First, Insurance kept denying the funds to get the cyber knife treatments in Kansas. My Aunt Patti went to the the CBS News Station for support to expose greedy and corrupt insurance companies. Nick's older brother, Ricky, held a rally to show the massive support for Nicholas. Insurance company caved in.

Second, with the TV and scandalous insurance exposure, Doctors from Southern California saw the reports and took Nick in the next day to start treatments because they saw his condition and said he NEEDED the treatments, regardless of the problems with the insurance company. Nick's case fell through the crack for medical treatment, and without the large public exposure, Nick's case would still be "lost."

So I saw Nick last night and he is doing real well. We all were laughing and joking and talking about all the food we are going to eat after he gets out of the hospital.
The next step for Nick is he is going to need physical therapy because he has been bed ridden for the last month.

So thank you for all those who have helped out! I owe you some pizza

Joe Photo "tweek" to make my brother look ugly

This negative Joe Photoshop tweek has some serious potential. I just played around with for a few minutes to make my super skinny brother ugly.

But lately I like to play with the sky colors. so this definitely a fun twist.

You are what you eat

So I was eating a piece of candy and thought,
"My, this tastes good when it is in my mouth, but when it gets to my stomach, I can't taste it any more and it makes me gain weight. So is this piece of candy really good for me? Maybe I should just chew my candy and spit it out?"

Joshua Tree

I went out to Joshua Tree two weeks ago. I just loaded the images last night...
Anyway, I went out there because in the spring there are these purple desert flowers that bloom.

We hiked up one of the boulder mountains. The rocks are huge and you have to make a way to the top. We made it, and it's pretty high up. You can see my car on the road in the bottom left corner.

If I wrote a book...

I find it funny that if someone has an interesting idea, people tell them they need to write a book. Well, I find it annoying. 99.99% of the time no one writes a book. I ran into a guy last week who said, "I got so many stories, I could write a book!" I think his literature consists of Maxim Magazine. So for my anti-book idea, mine would be

I Don't Know What I am Doing, and I Don't Know How I Got Here.
A Guide to Life to Accidentally Find Your Genius
by The Actual Joey Himself.

For the most part of my life, I basically stumbled on my talents because things that I found interesting. One of the chapters would be titled, "Try Not to Try."
I think it will be a best seller.

Andy Goldsworthy

This guy is an eviromental artist who literally surrounds himself in his work.

“As with all my work, whether it's a leaf on a rock or ice on a rock, I'm trying to get beneath the surface appearance of things. Working the surface of a stone is an attempt to understand the internal energy of the stone.”

"Photography is a way of putting distance between myself and the work which sometimes helps me to see more clearly what it is that I have made."
